Fall King Family Vineyards Wedding in Charlottesville, Virginia

Out of the 100+ weddings I’ve photographed, Luke and Erin’s wedding at King Family Vineyards was the windiest ever! When you see their ceremony photos, you’ll see that I’m not being dramatic. The wind’s dramatic flare will be something I think everyone in attendance will remember for the years to come.

Despite the unpredictable weather, Luke and Erin had the best attitudes and were in their usual good spirits. As I talked about in their engagement session blog post, we all connected immediately upon meeting! I loved that it felt like photographing a friend’s wedding and they trusted me to work around the windy weather.

Their day had many personal touches, starting off with Luke giving his groomsmen personalized pocket watches. Luke and Erin read letters written to each other before meeting for their first look! After the first look, their puppy Murphy met them for some portraits. The whole wedding party met us outside for photos. I love it when we can get all the bridesmaid and groomsmen photos done before the ceremony- this gives everyone, even Luke and Erin, a chance to mingle during cocktail hour and not just feel like the whole day is taking posed photos!

During the ceremony, the sun came out at the perfect moment and we had a beautiful golden hour!! They exchanged handwritten vows which left everyone a little teary-eyed (I’m guilty). I love the photo of Luke keeping Erin warm while she’s reading her vows- these are the moments I live for capturing.
