I am always grateful when someone wakes up extra early to do a session with me. I understand that as a college student sleep is rare and much needed! Brooke rocked her morning session graduation session. Morning sessions have so many perks like softer light and NO ONE is around. Sometimes posing in front of people walking by can feel a little awkward… so if that’s a worry for you then I highly recommend mornings. Brooke has AMAZING plans after graduation…

Katie is one of the most joyous, humorous, and outgoing people I have ever met. I had A TON of fun. If you know Katie, you know she can make you laugh and there is never a dull moment. I think these images give a little glimpse of the person that Katie is- beautiful, kind-hearted, and fun-spirited. We could not have had a more perfect evening for this senior session in Roanoke. It was not humid, different trees were in peak bloom, and the sun was shining.

I woke up extra early for this morning senior session. Maddy and I had planned it for the previous day but we had to cancel because of thunderstorms. I am SO thankful we did because all the pink pretty trees seemed to BLOOM overnight!!! Morning sessions are great because no one is around and the light is so pretty. Although it was cloudy, it was still perfect!

I walked away from this session with the biggest smile. Meagan and Blake are so kind it radiates joy into your day. The lighting was PERFECT for this college campus session. These two have been dating for many years, are graduating in May, and plan to get married in 2020!! Blake proposed in the Bahamas while on a cruise celebrating their anniversary! How perfect?!

Why are timeless photos so important? Trends come in and out but timeless photos are forever elegant. This Virginia senior session was so incredibly fun and beautiful. I had a ton of fun walking around getting to talk with Kellie. We made it rain spring blooms (yep, that happened!), popped champagne, and she WORKED the camera. Kellie was so sweet. I was asking her different questions and she said: “I don’t care, just work your magic!”. Knowing that my clients TRUST me makes me feel so happy.

When Alexa inquired about doing her college graduation session on campus and a second location I was excited to switch things up! I love photographing sessions in different locations because it allows me to be creative in new places. Spoiler alert: a “giant confetti blaster”, some champagne poppin’, lots of portraits by a creek and shooting in a PARKING LOT. Yep… and they were some of my favorite images ever…

A Creative Session Location

An early morning spring graduation session with tons of pink blooms! I never realized all the perks of morning sessions. The light was soft and incredibly beautiful. Morning sessions are also so peaceful. We basically had the entire location to ourselves! This was perfect because locations can be really busy later in the day.

Every year I do a giveaway for graduating seniors at Roanoke College. This year I had hundreds of entries so I decided to pick two winners!! Emily was one of them! We had tons of fun walking campus and dodging the wind. Emily brought this “champagne” bottle for her graduation session that popped out confetti!!! SO MUCH FUN! It was a little windy so it blew everywhere… OOPS!

I already love graduation sessions and whenever anyone asks me if they can bring their dog to their session I get even MORE excited! Becca rescued Kaity a couple of months ago and Kaity is just the CUTEST little thing! We were even able to balance a graduation cap on Kaity… SO ADORABLE!!!
